Trezor, a leading provider of hardware cryptocurrency wallets, recently faced a security incident involving unauthorized access to their third-party support ticketing system. The breach, discovered on January 17, 2024, potentially exposed the personal information of up to 66,000 users who had interacted with Trezor Support since December 2021. While Trezor confirmed that no user funds were compromised, the breach highlighted the need for increased vigilance against phishing attacks.

The exposed data included names or usernames and email addresses, but Trezor asserts that postal addresses and phone numbers were not affected. The company immediately took action to mitigate the breach, revoking unauthorized access and notifying all potentially impacted users. They also advised users to be cautious of phishing emails posing as Trezor support, which could attempt to extract recovery seed phrases.

Trezor emphasized that they will never ask for recovery seeds via email or any other communication channel. Users are encouraged to contact Trezor support directly if they receive suspicious requests. This incident underscores the importance of maintaining strong security practices and verifying the authenticity of communication, especially in the realm of digital assets.
